TCS iON exam interface: how the CBT screen works

Most bank, SSC and railway exams are computer-based tests on a TCS-style screen. Knowing the buttons and colours before exam day saves minutes and avoids costly mistakes.

The question palette: 5 colours you must know

1Not Visited — You have not opened this question yet.
2Not Answered — You opened the question but did not save an answer.
3Answered — You selected an option and pressed “Save & Next”.
4Marked for Review — You flagged the question but did not answer it.
5Answered & Marked for Review — You answered and flagged it. In most exams this answer is counted.

Buttons on the screen

Save & Next

Saves your selected option and opens the next question. If you pick an option and click a palette number instead, your answer may not be saved.

Mark for Review & Next

Flags the question so you can return to it. If you also selected an option, the question becomes “Answered & Marked for Review”.

Clear Response

Removes the option you selected. Use it to leave a question unattempted and avoid negative marks.

Submit

Ends the test. In exams with sectional timers, each section submits automatically when its clock reaches zero.

Common mistakes on exam day

The fix for all of them is the same: take your mocks in the same interface you will see in the hall. Every CBTMock test uses it.
